My opinion count too you know! :P First ... there is GREAT free software on the mac that can fully replace pay software. So always consider the free software before paying for software. Our wallets aren't meant to be on a diet of losing money :) they like to be greed and keep it all and not give anything out. Burning software ... Toast is great.But hella of expensive ... I would save Toast as a last resort ... like I said its great software has some awesome featurss ... but if u just want to burn some files or music or maybe an iso u got off the net ... then you should use something like LiquidCD or Burn (recommended) ... which are free and burns files, music, movies and as well as iso, toc, and bin files. Burn is very close to Toast and is open source so you won't see it as a pay software anytime soon :) . DiscBlaze ... well I own that app and if I knew what it would become I wouldnt have bought it ... even though I got it for a verygood price. It's bascially a different interface for the already built in Disc burner software in Mac. So I wouldn't consider it a great buy unless you wanted to just spend your money. Instant Messaging ... you hit right on the Nail there guy Adium is and will always be the best. Dang I wouldn't even consider an alternative for it ... it's a great IM client and there is really nothing comparable to it. Web Browser ... I wouldn't recommend Firefox to many people if they are using a Mac ... why ... well because they already have an awesome browser install ... SAFARI! Safari is faster then Firefox and isn't as resource hungry. Yea doesn't have an extension feature like firefox but those aren't really important ... when it comes down to it you need something that does the job right and fast; Safari is there for you, why install something else? Now if you want an alternative to Safari ... I would consider OmniWeb or Opera as fast and comparable browser. OmniWeb (5.5 highly recommended) uses a Modified version of WebKit ... which is a great browser engine and Opera is great on Windows and Mac. Safari is free and Opera is free but OmniWeb is not ... if your all into surfing the web then I would say fork over the money and get it ... otherwise stick with Safari :) . I use OmniWeb as a day to day browser ... it's my main browser. Transmit ... I love it best FTP program out there and Cyberduck is great for being free very close to Transmit I just can't take the user interface it's a bit funky. VLC fantastic media player and should be on every mac/windows computer :) .
