Faster FireFox 2.0 (For Mac)
Firefox is quite a universal application (no pun intended). With limited exceptions, it can be run on Windows or OSX, regardless of Intel or Power PC processors. However, Firefox for OSX can also be optimized for each specific type of processor, greatly improving speed and reliability.These builds also can add Aqua form widgets to Firefox, making forms show up in OSX-style instead of how they show up regularly.
Now that Firefox 2.0 has been released, here are the optimized builds for Power PC and Intel Macs, courtesy of Beatnik Pad. The optimized versions are provided under the name Bon Echo, since the Firefox name (and icon) cannot be used for non-Mozilla releases.

so i just upgraded to the intel version of bonecho and uninstalled firefox. sadly, when i uninstalled firefox, i lost all my bookmarks and preferences in bonecho.
i did, however, back up my macbook a few days ago using superduper. is it possible to load my firefox preferences from that backup?

There is a way to do it and here’s how (on OSX):
In your backup, all of your firefox preferences and bookmarks are under /Library/Application Support/Firefox/Profiles/.default
Just copy all of the files in that .default folder into the .default folder under /Library/Application Support/Bon Echo/Profiles/.default
and you should be good.
As far as the changing the icon (on OSX): If you have both firefox and bon echo installed (or just bon echo installed and the firefox installation DMG mounted), right click on firefox and go to Get Info. Do the same for Bon Echo. Now click on the firefox icon at the top right of its Get Info window. It should have a blue glow around it when you click it. Press Command+C (copy). Now click on the Bon Echo icon at the top left of its Get Info window. Press Command+V (paste). This should paste the FireFox icon onto Bon Echo.
This is just one way to do it (the simpler way). The other way involves right clicking on FireFox and going to Show Package Contents. If you navigate towards Contents/Resources/
you will see the firefox.icns and the document.icns. Copy these icon files to the same place in Bon Echo’s package contents, and you will have changed its icon. The advantage to this second method is that you change the icons for Bon Echo throughout the program (context menus etc), instead of just the application icon.

PS These icon changing methods apply universally throughout OSX. Be careful to only play with the .icns files when you start playing around with package contents though
