i typically convert my dvd's to mp4 using the xvid encoder at 1200 kbps. they take up a lot of space but look great when played on my tv. i've been hearing good things about the h.264 codec, but it's slower and takes way more processing power than xvid.

and for those pesky copy-controlled dvd's, i use mactheripper to work around the encryption. usually works when handbrake can't rip straight from the dvd.

Hey Eugene, how's it going? I'm curious, how does Handbrake compare to DVD Shrink? I noticed that some newer DVDs have encryption that DVDShrink can't break.
